There are a range of badges and awards available to young people in the Cub Scout section:
Activity Badges allow Cub Scouts to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things and form new interests.
Challenge Awards involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the Pack or community.
These Awards support the main themes of the Programme; outdoor and adventure; world and skills. Cubs take part in a range of activities to develop their skills and understanding in each of the challenge areas.
Core Badges are awarded upon joining or moving on from the Pack, or for time spent in the Scouting movement.
Staged Activity Badges are available to young people from Beavers to Explorers, and cover a range of topics and skills. The stages have increasing levels of difficulty, and a Cub Scout can begin at whichever stage offers them an appropriate level of challenge.
Gaining a challenge badge involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the Pack or community. There are several challenge badges across a number of themes, from the physical and outdoorsy to challenges dealing with the local community or issues connected with the Scouting world.
